Born in 1960 Accra, Ghana, Jo Watters-Pawlowski grew up living in West Africa, the Persian Gulf and Thailand. Jo lives and works in Sussex.
She graduated from Winchester School of Art in textile design, specialising in printed surfaces and in 1987 established her own textile print studio in Sussex, specialising in hand dyed and handprinted fabrics for interiors and fashion. Jo’s training and background in design had a significant effect on her understanding of composition, scale, detail, texture, colour and mark making which is pivotal in the development of her paintings. Jo is essentially driven by abstract expressionism, using her natural senses when observing the surrounding environment, she captures the essence of landscapes and translate these into abstract paintings using oil and mixed media.
Since the late 90’s Jo has exhibited her paintings in her annual Artist Open House exhibition and successful sells to private collectors in the UK and abroad.
