Jo Watters-Pawlowski was born in Accra, West Africa. Having spent her child hood in West Africa and the Persian Gulf, her twenties in Liberia and Bangkok. Jo now lives in Sussex with her husband photographer Kris Pawlowski krispawlowski.com and 16 year old jack russell.
After graduating from Winchester School of Art in textile design, specialising in printed surfaces, Jo set up her own print studio in Sussex. For over a decade Jo worked with interior designers, textile agents and private clients to create one-off designs specialising in hand dyed and handprinted linen and silk fabrics for both interior decoration and exclusive fashion designs.
The decision to focus solely as a painter in the late 1990's was a natrual transition. Jo had always worked from her own sketches and paintings to create the base for her design work. She is essentially driven by abstract expressionism, using her surroundings to evoke a emotional response to a subject.
